5 things business owners should do daily.

Wassup Family! Today I wanna speak on 5 things business owners should do daily to improve your physical and mental health during the day.

I chose this as the topic of today because in this age of the internet, people are starting to build their own brands and businesses and a lot of people still have the “9-5” mindset when starting up their own businesses, which is not the way to go when you plan on building a stable foundation for yourself. When you take on the struggle of being your own (and maybe others) boss’ you have to change your daily habits in order to prepare yourself for what lies ahead in your day, and even though as a blogger I’m trying to get used to this thought process myself, but I’ll still try to teach to you what I’ve been taught so far.

With that being said, here are 5 habits you as a business owner should have to prepare for battle (with your business of course) daily.

5 habits business owners should have:

  1. Reading a chapter of a book. If you own a business, reading is gonna be a very important part of your day depending on what book you read. But reading a book daily can be beneficial to a business owner because it can improve your vocabulary, give you valuable information (based upon what you’re reading of course), improve your focus/concentration and reading fluidity which comes in handy when dealing with things like contracts, and improves your memory.
  2. Planning your day. Planning your day should be something you do the day before, but it’d still be beneficial if you just plan your day in the morning time rather than never plan how your day will go at all. Planning your day can help you stay more organized and keep track of time during your day. Make goals you wanna set for that day and also be sure to make back up plans (preferably preparing for any outcome the day before) just in case something important pops up.
  3. Meditating. Meditation is something every human should do daily, but for business owners (especially the ones who work on social media platforms) this will clear and calm your mind. Meditation will also aid you in finding the answers you seek for new and different ideas to try.
  4. Working out. Physical exercise will give you the energy that things like coffee, energy drinks, and other stimulants won’t be able to give you and is very important for a person that owns a business, you must have as much energy as possible to keep you going throughout your day. Working out in the morning time can also improve your mental health during the day and help with weight control if you’re not doing too much exercising while working.
  5. Eating healthy. Eating the right foods throughout the day will energize you and help you perform during work better. But eating the wrong foods like a bunch of snacks and fast food will mess up your workflow during the day and take away energy you could’ve used to put more hours into your craft.

Honorable mentions:

Waking up and going to sleep early. The term “early bird gets the worm” is very important when it comes to running a business because if you can’t get what you need too done in the morning, you’re not going to have enough energy later on in the day to even think about doing what you should’ve done earlier. Going to sleep early is important too especially if you want to be able to wake up early and on time to get your day started, besides what madman doesn’t wanna get 8 hours of sleep?!

Don’t watch entertainment. (Tv, Videos on Instagram/Twitter, Movies etc.,) Learn valuable information instead. A sane businessperson will not have time nor want to incorporate entertainment into their daily lives because entertainment is just not useful to them at all nor is it a good use of time. Instead, you should wanna learn more so your memories could be filled with more knowledge instead of fantasies. It wouldn’t hurt though to view your favorite Tv show or movie after you’ve achieved your daily goals you set for yourself, but I wouldn’t spend too much time on it.

Spend wisely. This one is pretty much common sense for a person with a business but it’s also very important to choose wisely what you invest your money into daily. If you don’t have the funds to do expensive shopping, then go on a budget. I’d also say don’t spend $200 on junk food and fast food every week, instead use that $200 to go grocery shopping at an healthy store for food and water that’ll last you about 2 weeks (more if you know how to cook) and don’t overeat.

So what did we learn today?

5 daily habits business owners should have is reading a book (to improve your vocabulary, gain valuable information, improve your focus/concentration and fluidity in reading, and improve your memory), Planning your day (to keep you organized through the day and help you keep track of time), Meditating (for a clear and calm mind), Working out (to gain energy for your day, improve your mental health, and control your weight if you don’t move around a lot during the day) and Eating healthy (to keep your energy up and brighten your mood).

There are many more things to add to this list, but I’ll probably extend this in another post in the future.
